
Perth Amboy cops kill man in street
PERTH AMBOY — A 32-year-old man was shot and killed by police on Dec. 4, 2013 after pulling a knife on two officers, according to the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office.
Dixon Rodriguez, described by friends as having special needs, encountered two Perth Amboy police officers on Hall Avenue about 1:18 p.m. and attacked one of them with the weapon, the prosecutor’s office said in a statement.
Woman dies in Middletown crash
MIDDLETOWN - A driver was killed in a crash in Monmouth County early Saturday morning, Feb. 1.
Middletown police say the incident occurred in the area of Oak Hill Road, just before 1 a.m.
The female victim has not yet been identified.

Dustin Friedland, 30, had helped his wife, Jamie Schare, into the passenger side of his silver Range Rover when men approached him about 9 p.m.
The men put a handgun to Friedland’s head and demanded the vehicle.
In an apparent attempt to protect his wife, Friedland pushed the men away and was shot in the head, according to investigators.

SOUTH BRUNSWICK – A man who reportedly threatened members of a police SWAT team with a knife was shot and killed Wednesday night, Nov. 20.
The New Jersey state attorney general’s office is investigating the shooting, ,which occurred about 6:30 p.m. during a standoff with the man on Hannah Drive.
Authorities say a member of the Middlesex County Special Operations Response Team fatally shot 28-year-old Andrew Murnieks inside his home.

PENNSVILLE — Authorities said a man with a rifle entered Los Angeles International Airport and fatally shot a Transportation Security Administration officer.
The gunman, identified by the FBI as 23-year-old Paul Anthony Ciancia, entered Terminal 3 on Friday and pulled a rifle from his bag, killing Garardo Hernandez. According to the TSA workers union and federal sources, Hernandez was working as a travel document checker.
