SOMERVILLE – A hospital executive who spent decades as an important figure in New Jersey politics and policy killed his wife, set their house ablaze, then killed himself, a prosecutor ruled, finally giving an explanation six months later for the mysterious deaths, according to CBSNews.com.

A 50-year-old nurse jumped to her death from a parking deck in New Brunswick on June 5, 2014.

The woman, who is from Crosswicks in Burlington County, “fell to her death as the result of an apparent suicide,” police Capt. J.T. Miller said in a statement.

WEST MILFORD – Rutgers University student Darsh Patel of Edison was attacked and killed by a 299-pound black bear in Apshawa Preserve – about 45 miles northwest of New York City.

Officials say the attack was the first fatal bear-human encounter on record in New Jersey.
