VERONA – Emma Wozny died suddenly in her bed.
She was 20-years-old and studying journalism at Syracuse University and had returned home to attend her grandfather’s funeral.
On Sept. 9, 2013 – the day of visitation – her mother found Emma dead.
Emma was a junior psychology and neuroscience major.
Wozny was also a staff writer for the Daily Orange, the student newspaper at Syracuse, and spent a semester in Spain last year.
“During this very difficult time, our hearts go out to Emma’s family, friends, colleagues, and the faculty and staff who knew her,” Cantor said in an e-mail statement to the university community.
Wozny graduated from Verona High School in 2011.
The cause of death was not immediately clear but her parents found diet pills in her dresser drawer.
She had come home from Syracuse looking thin and unhealthy, her parents say.
