From NJ.com: A man found dead in a Belleville motel today was on the run from police who were seeking him in the slaying of a Pennsylvania woman at a Delaware beach resort, authorities said.
The pair had met a few weeks earlier through an online dating service, according to a report in the Reading Eagle.
Pawan Kumar, 26, of Wilmington, Del., was pronounced dead at the Belleville Motor Lodge on Washington Street around 1:30 p.m. today, Essex County Prosecutor’s Office spokeswoman Katherine Carter said.
He is believed to have committed suicide by overdosing on pills, although a formal cause of death is pending an autopsy, according to Carter.
Warrants for Kumar’s arrest were issued this morning, a day after the body of Danielle Mehlman, 26, of Bensalem, Pa., was found in a Dewey Beach motel, Delaware State Police spokesman Cpl. Gary Fournier said. The cause of her death is pending investigation.
The pair apparently met through an online dating site sometime in the last few weeks, according to Mehlman’s family members interviewed by the Reading Eagle, of Pa.
Kumar was being sought on charges of first-degree murder and possession of a deadly weapon during the commission of a felony, according to Fournier.
It is unclear why Kumar was in Belleville or what is relationship to Mehlman was.
The Baltimore Sun reported Kumar and Mehlman were staying together at the Delaware motel. –NJ.com
